AstraZeneca to partner with Cellectricon
11 Jun 2008
UK-based drugmaker AstraZeneca has entered into a partnership with Cellectricon, a provider of screening solutions for drug discovery.
AstraZeneca will receive two of the company's new high throughput platform, Dynaflow (R) HT systems for ion channel screening.
The news follows an earlier collaboration between the two companies which saw them working together on a solution to major bottlenecks in ligand gated ion channel screening.
Jonas Ohlsson, chief executive officer at Cellectricon, said: "Collaborating with AstraZeneca has been most rewarding. Driven by solving bottlenecks in drug discovery, Cellectricon's strategy is to bring state of the art products for drug discovery and research to the market through world class customer collaborations."
In related news, AstraZeneca has just submitted an application to European regulators for its once-daily Seroquel tablets, which are intended for the treatment of major depressive disorder.
The pharmaceutical company made a supplementary New Drug Application for the drug in the US earlier this year.
