Pfizer senior VP to address drug discovery summit

    12 Jun 2008

The senior vice-president and site head of Pfizer La Jolla, Dr Keith James, will be making a presentation at the Modern Drug Discovery and Development Summit in October.

He will join over 150 other speakers in the two-day conference where he will speak about how Pfizer is changing the research and development side of the organisation, as well as the challenges and opportunities that other companies face in the area.

Dr James will also discuss how pharmaceutical companies can deliver new treatments at a cost-effective price by transforming themselves into an 'ideal' business model and taking into account organisational, therapeutic, technology, internal and external resources.

Other speakers will include David Nicholson, senior vice-president of Global Project Management at Schering Plough, and the vice-president of Business Development at GlaxoSmithKline, Sandy Macrae.

This follows recent news that Pfizer has embarked on a new study with Bristol-Myers Squibb into the experimental drug apixaban to evaluate its efficacy as a treatment for patients with blood clots in the veins of their legs or lungs.
