Bayer's insecticide gets US/Canada approval

Regulatory Affairs
Bayer says its insecticidal active ingredient spirotetramat has been granted regulatory approval in the US and Canada.
Spirotetramat is to be marketed worldwide under the brand-name Movento, the company reports.
It intends to market Movento in over 70 countries around the world.
Dr Rudiger Scheitza, member of the board of management of Bayer CropScience, suggests the company expects it will have an annual sales potential of around 200 million (£159 million).
Insecticides product manager at Bayer CropScience Emmanuel Salmon says spirotetramat is unique because it is "the only modern insecticide with systemic two-way efficacy", meaning it is able to move up and down through the entire plant system and control insects in leaves and bark.
Bayer recently said it plans to invest approximately 100 million at its sites in Brazil between now and the end of next year.
Group chief executive officer Werner Wenning indicated the company wants to extend its position in what it sees as a growth region.
