The pharmaceutical giant said the deal was concluded after it had received all necessary government approvals and had satisfied regulatory procedures.

It stated that the Chinese firm is behind a range of beauty products well-known in households across the Asian country.

Jesse Wu, president of the Johnson & Johnson (China) investment company, said: "We are very pleased to add the well-known and respected Dabao brand to our growing portfolio of healthcare brands in China."

He commented that the deal reflects his firm's commitment to the country and the "continued development of China's consumer healthcare sector".

Meanwhile, the Rembrandt division of Johnson & Johnson has just unveiled new formulations of its Intense Stain and Canker Sore whitening toothpastes.

Rembrandt claims to have been the first whitening toothpaste brand with mild abrasives to have been brought to the market.
