Bayer appoints new CEO in US

    04 Aug 2008

Bayer has appointed a new president and chief executive officer at its US subsidiary Bayer Corporation.

Greg Babe is taking over from Dr Attila Molnar on October 1st, who is to retire after 30 years' service to the company.

Mr Babe also becomes the firm's senior representative for its US and Canadian operations.

Bayer says that 51-year-old Mr Babe, who has been with the company since 1978 and has held various management positions, will continue in his current role as president and chief executive officer of Bayer MaterialScience.

Dr Molnar has been chief executive officer of Bayer Corporation and senior Bayer representative for the US and Canada since 2002.

Last week, Bayer said its group sales in the second quarter had increased by 3.6 per cent to over 8.5 million euros (£6.7 million) compared with the same period last year.

Management board chairman Werner Wenning reported the firm was "particularly pleased at the strong performance of Bayer CropScience", where sales had gone up by over 15 per cent.
