Genentech, GlycArt, Roche enter cancer collaboration

    03 Oct 2008

Genentech, GlycArt and Roche have entered into a collaboration agreement for a potential cancer therapy.

The companies are to develop GA101, which is a monoclonal antibody designed to work in the area of target-cell death.

It is being developed for the potential treatment of haemotological malignancies and other disorders such as non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

"This collaboration with GlycArt and Roche for the GA101 molecule complements our existing research programme and our focus on innovative compounds," commented Hal Barron, senior vice-president of development and chief medical officer at Genentech.

William Burns, chief executive officer of Roche Pharmaceuticals, added: "Our early investment in pioneering technologies continues to provide new hope for patients."

Genentech is to announce its financial results for the third quarter of the year on October 14th, after the close of the financial markets.
