Takeda sets up 'global advisory board'

Japanese drug giant Takeda has established its own global advisory board which the company said is part of its vision to become a truly global pharmaceutical force.

Takeda said the board will be made up of members of its current executive management and four other external advisors with experience of management at the world's largest pharmaceutical companies.

Yasuchika Hasegawa, president of the drug company, said: "Takeda is making meaningful changes in its governance through the establishment of Takeda Global Advisory Board and the inclusion of external advisors."

He added that the expertise of the external advisors will be crucial to the success of the board and intends to create products which will meet the needs of patients around the world.

The external members of the board will be Ms Karen Katen, former vice chairman of Pfizer, Dr Frank Morich, former chief executive of Bayer HealthCare, Mr Sidney Taurel, former chairman and chief executive of Eli Lilly, and Dr Tadataka Yamada, former chairman of research and development at GlaxoSmithKline.

Takeda has also recently revealed it is to grant stock options to all of its directors.
